Stacy Savage, AKA the "Texas Trash Talker", has been a "recycling nerd" for over 20 years. She was born and raised under the hazy skies and rotten egg smells of the oil & gas industry of southeast Texas where both her parents and extended family worked at refinery plants for generations.
In 2013, she founded Zero Waste Strategies, an environmental consulting firm based in Austin. She specializes in Zero Waste and Circular Economy protocols to help business clients reduce waste for increased revenue, deeper customer loyalty, and a green marketing edge. Her client list includes Dell, AT&T, Apple, Nestle Purina, Kohler Co., Wayfair, Boston University, and the City of Austin, among many others. Her company's services include conducting waste audits, employee education training, data analysis & reporting, green communications strategies, and administering the TRUE Zero Waste Facility Certification program.
She has been spotlighted in multiple industry magazines, interviewed for articles and podcasts, and invited to speak at numerous conferences.
Previous experience:
From 2003-2012, she was an environmental activist and political lobbyist for a nonprofit, door-to-door advocacy group. She played an instrumental role in passing local waste reduction ordinances in Austin and 2 key pieces of statewide bi-partisan ewaste recycling legislation in Texas for computers in 2007 and televisions in 2011. (HB 2047, Bonnen - R and SB 329, Watson - D).
In 2009, Mrs. Savage co-founded the Austin Zero Waste Alliance, an all-volunteer watchdog group focused on pushing single-stream recycling at the curbside, researching new zero waste initiatives, educating and empowering local neighbors, and producing lobbying campaigns to influence the Austin City Council to consider and implement zero waste policies.
From 2012-2017, Stacy co-hosted a live, weekly "green talk" radio program called "Shades of Green" on KOOP 91.7 FM in Austin.
